HIRE A MOTOR BOAT ON THE FOWEY RIVER
Fowey estuary is a natural, deep-water, sheltered harbour with 25 miles of shoreline most of which is wooded with a diversity of bird and marine wildlife. In the lower part of the estuary there are rocky headlands, Castles, caves and sandy beaches. Further upriver there are beautiful and unspoilt creeks with an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. Our self-drive motor boats all have wheel steering for easy exploration of the Fowey River estuary.
The estuary is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). In 2003 the port of Fowey became the first port under the Marina category to be awarded the Blue Flag. For recommendations of what is happening in and around the port, please ask me at time of boat hiring.
As well as being a hot spot for recreational craft, Fowey is also a busy commercial port exporting over one million tons of Cornish china clay each year. The clay is loaded on to ships weighing up to 13000 tonnes which are brought into the harbour using tug boats.
Fowey is the centre for exploring the towns and villages that hide along the twisting waterways of the Fowey estuary. No visit to Fowey is complete without enjoying some time on the water.
